Liz John
Liz is a true connoisseur of masterful English. She’s been writing, editing and teaching it for over twenty years, since she was a Presidential Scholar in Creative Writing as a high schooler. During her undergraduate studies at Reed College she organized and taught English and writing classes for college students and immigrant workers, and while pursuing her Masters at the University of Chicago she co-founded Colloquium, a literary magazine for the humanities. Liz almost holds a Ph.D. in English from Princeton University, where her dissertation, Bastard Genre: Historical Fiction and Theory in the 19th Century is expected in 2023. She loves cats.
Matt Reese
Matt loves translating difficult subject matter for lay audiences. With over ten years’ experience writing for government and professional audiences, Matt brings an expert eye to the art of weaving data and technical concepts into a compelling narrative. Before joining Avow, Matt led research projects into federal fiscal policy at the Pew Charitable Trusts, and wrote policy analyses for Federal Funds Information for States, a boutique think-tank with an audience of thousands in federal, state and local government. Matt holds a Masters degree in Economics from DePaul University. He prefers dogs.
